Background and Education:

Dr. Wert is originally from Amsterdam, NY. He received his B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Union College, Schenectady, NY graduating in 1995. He then attended Michigan State College of Osteopathic Medicine graduating in 2000. He completed his traditional internship, and his Internal Medicine Residency at Ingham Regional Medical Center/McLaren Greater Lansing in 2005.Dr. Wert has been in practice in the Lansing area since 2005. He returned to school and obtained his Masters in Public Health from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in 2016. He also is an attending physician and lectures to medical students and residents. Dr. Wert is also an Assistant Professor of medicine at Michigan State University, and is currently working on several research projects.

Areas of Interest:

Dr. Wert’s focus is in outpatient primary care medicine, preventative medicine and sexual health. Dr. Wert has a strong interest in HIV medicine, and HIV Prevention, having been recognized by various organizations for his work in these areas. He has spoken at State and Local level events on health care inequalities, and sexual health.

Personal Information:

Dr. Wert lives in Grand Ledge, MI. His personal interests include spending time with his family and his five cats. Additionally, he likes to travel, enjoys the theater, sci-fiction and historical novels. He has an extensive collection of Harry Potter memorabilia.
