Background:

DJ MacPhail is a certified physician assistant specializing in family medicine for Capital Internal Medicine Associates. He grew up in the upper peninsula of Michigan, Manistique, before moving down state to Holt when he was 8 years old. He graduated from Holt High School in 2010, after which he enlisted in the U.S Navy and went from North Chicago to Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He was sent back to North Chicago where he worked as a hospital corpsman at the James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC). After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he moved to Milwaukee, WI with his wife who was completing dental school at Marquette University. While in Milwaukee, he took courses at Marquette University and applied and got accepted to the Rosalind Franklin University’s Physician Assistant program in North Chicago. After graduation he took his first job as a hospitalist PA working at Sparrow and McLaren. He enjoys many areas of medicine such as physical and mental health/wellbeing, cardiology, pulmonology, orthopedics, and preventative health care.

Education:

He graduated from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science with his master’s degree in Physician Assistant Practice. He also went to Columbia College of Missouri and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration majoring in Healthcare Management. Prior to this he served in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman.

Personal Information:

DJ is married to Dr. Dominique MacPhail, who is a dentist at State Street Dental in St. Johns, Michigan. DJ enjoys spending time with his family and two young children, Bennie and Maevyn. He also uses his spare time to work outdoors, travel up north, play golf, football, basketball, and all things involving Michigan State University and athletics.
